This was our itinerary when we went to Ireland in October 2022. We spent an additional 3 days in Upperchurch (County Tipperary) to visit family so I have adjusted this itinerary to exclude the days we’ve dedicated for family. Tipperary is beautiful though, and being with family in the countryside for me is the real Ireland. You can read my blog on Tipperary if you want to know more about it.
At any point during your time in Ireland, if you get a chance to watch a game of hurling, I would highly recommend it as everyone in Ireland is passionate about this sport and it is a very Irish thing to do. We had planned on watching a game while we were in Galway and but the weather had other plans for us (and of course another important thing to remember when in Ireland, always have a plan B ).
Day 1: Arrive Dublin

Day 2 – 4: Dublin (with a day trip to Kilkenny)

Day 5: Drive to Galway. This will take about 2.5 hours so you still have the rest of the day to wander around Galway. Stay in or near the Latin Quarter.

Day 6: From Galway, explore the beautiful region of Connemara, Kylemore Abbey and the small fishing village of Roundstone. This is a must if you are in this part of Ireland. Rent a SMALL car, and drive through the countryside of Ireland. I have to emphasize a small car. The roads you will go through are narrow with no shoulders. A lot of them are bordered by either stone walls or tall hedges. You will thank me for insisting you get a small car.

Day 7: Drive to Cork, via Cliffs of Moher

Day 8 – 10: Cork (with day trips to Cobh and Kinsale)

Day 11: Drive back to Dublin

Day 12: Depart Dublin
